5+ WEEK BOARD AND TRAIN

Reactivity and Aggression

The 5+ Week Board and Train Programs are an extension of the 3 or 4 Week General Obedience Foundation Programs, designed to address dogs with high anxiety or reactivity (excluding those with human or dog aggression). This program provides additional time and patience, allowing the trainer to work at your dog’s unique pace to address unhealthy thought processes and fears.
Through careful observation, we identify triggers for anxiety or reactivity and create a tailored program that your family can continue implementing at home. Alongside the general obedience training, we focus on building your dog’s confidence and neutrality in stressful situations, making adjustments as needed to ensure a seamless transition back to your home environment.
Common anxiety issues we address include kennel anxiety, fear of strangers, loud noises, quick movements, interactions with other dogs, leash reactivity, vet visits, car rides, and trauma from rehoming or past experiences. Goals for this program may include achieving calm behaviors during triggering events, structured playtime, remaining in a trained down or place command when triggers arise, crate training for dogs prone to escaping, and loose leash walking to replace lunging and barking. Ultimately, we focus on redirecting your dog’s energy and reaffirming your role as a confident and effective leader.
